In this article we try to synthesise which are the most common defects when it comes to assessing the technical state of a boat’s structure.
Structural defects are more common than one might think. It’s very important to check that the structure of the boat is in good condition, since
safety at sea strongly relies on a sound hull.
The defects will depend on the type of construction material: typically osmosis for fibreglass boats, galvanic corrosion in those built in aluminium or rot in those made of wood, especially on the oldest vessel.
